Meet the Panel

Dan Doonan Dan Doonan, AFSCME - Dan Doonan is a prominent Labor Economist currently employed by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO. As part of AFSCME’s Collective Bargaining and Research Department, Dan has guided and assisted over 100 government agencies through difficult financial times. Dan was instrumental in providing key budget and financial advise and guidance to the State of Louisiana, New Mexico State University, Paterson (NJ) Housing Authority and the City of Anaheim (CA). Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Dan has served as a Pension Analyst for the Ford/United Auto Workers agreement in 2003 and as the Lead Analyst for the United States Postal Service and the Letter Carrier 2006 agreement. Dan has done extensive consulting on Pension Actuaries - effectively calculating pension expenses and developing funding projections for a variety of pension plans.

 

Carolyn OsnowitzCarolyn Osnowitz, Business & Community Leader - Carolyn Osnowitz has resided in Pueblo for over 50 years and is one of Pueblo’s most respected community and business leaders. As a Board Member of Pueblo Diversified Industries, Carolyn helped to develop and oversee the organizations strategic plans and community outreach programs. Carolyn served as President of the Pueblo Association of for Realtors for over a decade and was named “Realtor of the Year” by the Colorado Realtors Association.

Mike VioletteMike Violette, Colorado Fraternal Order of Police - Mike Violette is the Executive Director of the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police. Mike is a law enforcement professional with more then 20 years of law enforcement experience with the Longmont Police Department. As the Executive Director of the Colorado FOP, Mike represents over 5,000 law enforcement officers throughout the state of Colorado in all aspects of labor relations. Mike is recognized as one of the foremost leaders in the State of Colorado for fighting to protect the rights of Colorado’s law enforcement officers. Mike oversees and directs the Legislative Branch of the Colorado FOP and lobbies on behalf of the FOP at the State Capitol.

Sara CardinalSara Cardinal, Department of Social Services - Sara Cardinal has distinguished herself as a motivator and an excellent employee of the Pueblo County Department of Social Services. In March 2009, she received the County’s “Outstanding External Customer Service Award.” Sara’s public service experience includes working as a Food Stamp/Medicaid Eligibility Technician and an Employment Counselor. Sara currently oversees and supervises the County’s Low Energy Assistance Program. Prior to her public service, Sara worked for Colorado Bluesky, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities. Sara is currently completing her American Management Association course work. Sara is the Department of Social Services’ representative for the United Way program and teaches Kindergarten Religion at St. Joseph Parrish.

Eric PinedaEric Pineda, Public Works Department - Eric Pineda has extensive experience in the area of public works and public service. Prior to working for Pueblo County Public Works Department, Eric work for the City of Pueblo as an Irrigations Specialist. Eric currently serves as Public Works Technician for Pueblo County. In addtion to his Public Works duties, Eric represents the County’s employees working in the area of Fleet Service, Park service and Road and Bridges. Prior to being elected as President of AFSCME Local 857, Eric served as Vice-President for three years. Eric sits on the statewide board of AFSCME Council 76 and is a newly elected Executive Board member of the Colorado AFL-CIO.

Mike CerboMike Cerbo, AFL-CIO - Mike Cerbo has been the Executive Director of the Colorado AFL-CIO since October 2007. Prior to his employment with the AFL-CIO, Mike served as a State Representative from Denver House District 2 in the Colorado General Assembly from 2003 to 2007. He served on the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee during that time and rose to the leadership position of Majority Caucus Chair in 2006. From 1980 to 2004 Mike served as Business Manager of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union. Mike has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Denver and a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law.
